You will promote Gilbane’s industry-recognized safety standards, coordinate the work of trade contractors, and participate in daily project meetings.ResponsibilitiesDirects the day-to-day coordination of Gilbane’s trade contractors and their sub-contractors to ensure high-quality work that meets the approved project scheduleManages the project budget for general conditions and site servicesDevelops, documents, and communicates the work plan regarding changes made in the fieldMaintains a thorough understanding of contract documents in order to proactively anticipate potential problemsObtains or verifies that subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposesActs as primary safety representative in the field and enforces safety compliance with all tradesDevelops safety strategies and drives safety culture across all project personnelConducts maintenance and planning of “workarounds,” shutdowns and tie-insEstablishes credibility among owners, trade contractors, unions, and other project partners by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environmentResolves jurisdictional disputes with support from the Sr General Superintendent or Construction ExecutiveLeads contractor meetings on a regular basisMaintains daily reports and documentation using software toolsCreates, manages, and updates the project schedule, creating and implementing contingency plans when necessaryCommunicates schedule status, updates, and changes to project team and trade contractorsPlans, coordinates, and manages jobsite logisticsDevelops the Quality in Construction (QIC) plan in partnership with the Operations Excellence team, oversees the plan and implements necessary changesManages Next150/Site Services material and crew needsTrains direct report Field Engineers and Superintendents on project needs, construction knowledge, and business acumenAssists in development, preplanning, and preconstruction/construction to write scopes of work and participate in buyoutAdministers Time and Materials (T&M) trackingLeads stretch and flex, daily huddle, and pre-task plansEngages in the community, growing and fostering relationships in the local marketCollaborates closely with business development to ensure seamless integration with sales strategies including performance metrics on your assigned projects, pursuits, and client deliverables. Actively participates in opportunities to strengthen client, partner, and industry relationships that position Gilbane as the “Builder of Choice”Trains direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasksManages workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standardsFosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team membersAids in communicating company and department strategy to direct reportsMay be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positionsExperience/EducationQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management10-15 years of experience on $30-$100 million healthcare or K-12 construction project(s) or multiple projects in a lead superintendent roleOSHA 30-hour certifiedSTS-C CertificationFirst Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed TrainingOr equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong technical and communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needsAbility to participate in sales process, interviews, and presentationsAbility to work in a team environmentProficient in Microsoft Office and other industry standard construction software toolsConstruction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of constructionMust have experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost controlFamiliarity with Pull Planning ProcessMust have strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety planMust be able to create an environment where “safety first” is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitudeMust have experience supervising a project teamSalary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.For Connecticut this ranges from $146,100.00-$178,600.00 plus benefits and retirement programGilbane offers an excellent total compensation package which includes competitive health and welfare benefits and a generous profit-sharing/401k plan.
