Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.Basic Requirements:United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA PolicyDegree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicineThe degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completedCurrent - full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State - Territory - or Commonwealth of the United States - or in the District of ColumbiaResidency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training - approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification(NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) - b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) -OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States) - which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiencesResidents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs)PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e. - not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basisPRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privilegedrather - they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervisionAdditionally - surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPsProficiency in spoken and written EnglishReference: For more information on this qualification standard - please visit https://www.va.gov/ohrm/QualificationStandards/.DutiesRecruiting for one (1) experienced highly qualified Board Certified/Board Eligible physician for the Primary Care Clinic at the Wausau Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)The primary care clinic hours of operation are from 8:00 a.mto 4:30 p.m. - Monday through FridayFederal holidays are excluded from normal clinic hours of operationThe Chief of Primary Care will provide the work assignments for this physician and will provide professional directionThe physician will be granted clinical privileges for the VA based on his/her specific expertiseWork will commence immediately upon completion of orientationThe physician will be required to work cooperatively with other physicians - advanced practice nurses - nurse practitioners - physician assistants - registered nurses - administrative staff - and a variety of allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive health care services to veteran patientsThe medical center utilizes a computerized medical record systemThe physician must be familiar with personal computers - have adequate keyboard skills to perform all data entry (progress notes and physician orders - history and physicals - discharge summaries) - and be able to navigate through windows based computer programsTraining on the computerized medical record system will be provided by the medical centerSPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1The physician will follow and meet all medical center policies - rules and regulations2The physician is required to be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) to maintain the certification during their work at the medical center3Function as a full team member of the interdisciplinary team serving patients at the VA4Provide history - physical examination - diagnosis - and initiation of medical treatment5Initiate and facilitate treatment and transfer in emergency situations6Follow-up office visits for existing medical problems and appropriate diagnostic test and medication adjustments7Referral of patients as needed to appropriate specialists - health care facilities - and coordination of home health services8Document assessments and plan of care for each patient in accordance with policies and procedures9Act as a consultant in clinical practice and may serve as a managing/supervising physician for physician assistants10Communicate and collaborate effectively with other providers and disciplines to ensure continuity of patient care11Collaborate and act as a patient advocate12Maintain knowledge of new and current clinical methods13Abide by all Medical Center policies and proceduresVA offers a comprehensive total rewards packageVHA Physician Total RewardsRecruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Is available Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Learn morePay: Competitive salary - annual performance bonus - regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1 -000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Work Schedule: M -F 8:00am - 4:30pm #J-18808-Ljbffr
