The Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of care. The professional nurse assumes the responsibility and accountability for the delegation of patient care to other members of the health care team, which may include coordination of services with rehabilitation staff to maximize the patient's independence to return to their prior residence.
Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding medication administration by a licensed Registered Nurse. Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays. Provides bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and postsurgery patients. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs. Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient. Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol. Participates in discharge planning. Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms. Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
* Previous medical/surgical-oncology experience preferred.
