Executive Director, Facilities Operations & Maintenance - Campus Ambulatory (H) Position: Executive Director, Facilities Operations & Maintenance at UHealth Medical Campus, University of Miami Health System. Overview In this role, you will oversee the safety, maintenance, and day‑to‑day functions of the Central Energy Plant and Physical Plant Operations to ensure quality service for internal & external customers. Responsibilities Advise managing staff on short‑ and long‑term changes necessary to keep facilities in physical compliance with regulatory demands. Maintain documentation for state and local regulatory inspections. Advance and enforce operational procedures and best practices, ensuring staff compliance. Ensure all work areas meet quality, safety, and compliance standards. Provide internal control oversight, compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding assets, and efficient operations. Help plan, organize, and manage maintenance, repairs, and physical operations of hospital facilities and offsite buildings related to utilities. Implement process improvements to reduce costs and improve response time. Evaluate, develop and implement policies and standards for maintenance and repair of equipment and building systems. Ensure uninterrupted utility services, including emergency power. Manage and improve operations and maintenance with best‑in‑class practices. Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce cost and maintain infrastructure. Oversee facilities work control, focusing on process improvement and leveraging technology. Conduct routine inspections and communicate with stakeholders on work order status. Collaborate on accurate facility assessment database and execute core infrastructure reinvestment projects. Prepare reports on health system and medical education conditions and needs. Qualifications Core Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required; Master’s preferred. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes Extensive knowledge of facilities planning, capital and operating budget development, operations and maintenance in an academic health setting. Knowledge of Central Energy Plant operations, Nimrod (Front End Building Automation systems software) and Emergency Power Systems. Strong regulatory knowledge of Joint Commission, Life Safety, ACHA, Florida Building Codes, and other applicable standards. Knowledge of multi‑generator and generator/utility load sharing, including multi‑utility switching. Knowledge of PLC control and information sharing applications including Ethernet, Modbus, CAN, and fiber optic communication. Knowledge of building HVAC systems, including pneumatic controls and DDC systems. Knowledge of business and management principles. Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations. Ability to establish department goals and objectives supporting the strategic plan. Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others.
