Musical Theatre Program Coordinator

North End Music & Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) Reporting to the NEMPAC Director of Education and Programs, this position will plan, execute, and oversee the growing NEMPAC Musical Theatre Program. The role includes 10‑week musical theatre classes for children ages 4 to 7, the Junior Troupers production program, and bi‑annual troupe productions such as the Winter Holiday Show and Spring Show. The position is primarily remote, with occasional in‑office work for events, productions, and monthly Musical Theatre Team Meetings. Program Administration Support a team of 10–13 theatre instructors, production crew members, and interns. Ensure all instructors follow the guidelines outlined in the faculty handbook. Maintain the highest quality of instruction across all musical theatre classes and programs. Develop, oversee, and evaluate curriculum content for the musical theatre program. Participate in 2–3 class check‑ins and observations with the Director of Education for other musical theatre instructors. Collaborate with the Director of Education to plan the Summer Program Musical Theatre Weeks, beginning in December. Contribute to Area One of NEMPAC’s Strategic Plan by fostering strong student retention and supporting advancement pathways within the musical theatre troupe program and across other NEMPAC arts disciplines. Communicate updates to NEMPAC administration and the marketing department to ensure all events, programs, and meetings are added to the staff and organizational calendars. Provide recommendations to NEMPAC administration for program improvements. Production Management for Youth Musical Productions Serve as the primary liaison with partnering organizations and venues for Spring 2026’s High School Musical Jr. and Winter 2027’s original Holiday Show. Work with the Stage Director and Director of Education to onboard and hire production staff, including the stage manager, choreographer, and technical designers. Schedule and lead monthly production meetings with each production team. Coordinate rehearsal schedules, including Holiday Show rehearsals on Sunday afternoons and Spring production rehearsals on Friday and Sunday afternoons. Attend 2–3 rehearsals per production to support preparation and quality. Send weekly updates and communications to cast families. Oversee parent volunteers supporting costumes, props/set, and box office activities. Coordinate with NEMPAC’s Marketing Manager to create and print show programs, graphics, flyers, and postcards, ensuring alignment with NEMPAC branding. Provide on‑site support during peak production periods, including tech week and performances (April 27–May 3). Manage box office setup and operations, including ticketing software, sales, and regular ticketing reports. Collaborate with the stage manager to ensure proper load‑in and load‑out of all sets, props, and costumes. Ensure proper storage and organization of all production materials after the final performance. Community Engagement & Program Development Maintain regular communication with musical theatre families regarding upcoming events, sessions, and important reminders. Collaborate with other NEMPAC programs, particularly the dance program, and explore opportunities for integration with the music division. Develop, oversee, and manage the Junior Troupers program. Support planning and discussion with NEMPAC regarding potential program expansion in future years. Qualifications Experience in youth musical theatre, theatre education, or performing arts program management. Strong organizational and project‑management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple programs and productions. Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with families, teaching artists, volunteers, and community partners. Ability to develop, support, and oversee high‑quality curriculum and instruction for young performers. Flexibility, reliability, and strong problem‑solving skills, especially during production periods and event weeks. Pass a CORI/SORI background check. Compensation & Schedule Pay: $21–$24 per hour, commensurate with experience. Hours: approximately 5 hours per week, with variations for events and productions.
