About the EmployerSan Bruno Park is a linguistically and culturally diverse school district in the San Francisco Bay Area. Located at the northern tip of Silicon Valley and just 10 miles south of San Francisco, this small preschool to grade 8 district is the home to five elementary schools and one middle school. Through the generous support of the San Bruno community, the district is the recipient of a recent facilities bond to rebuild aging infrastructure. The district maintains a strong financial position as a result of new and increasing revenue sources. The San Bruno Park Board of Directors recently approved a 9.5% raise over two years for all educators in the district demonstrating its commitment to attract and retain talented staff across the district. RESPONSIBILITIES: Buildings Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes linoleum, concrete, tile and wood floors and vacuums rugs and carpets in offices, nurse's and faculty rooms, auditoriums and multipurpose rooms, dining rooms, cafeterias, hallways, ramps, and stairwaysCleans and dusts walls, furniture, woodwork, hall lockers, and other equipmentPicks up paper and other refuse on floors and sweeps walks and entrances, an empties and cleans waste containersWashes, scrubs, and disinfects restrooms and shower roomsCleans windows, door glass, and drinking fountainsCleans and polishes metal work such as door panels and hand railingsLights and turns off room heaters and hot water heaters as needed provided proper training has been provided and competency is establishedAssists in moving or rearranging chairs, tables, desks, furniture and other equipmentReplaces light globes, makes minor repairs in the classroom furnitureMaintains equipment used in maintenance projects and in cleaning of buildings during summer monthsAssists in operation of school heating plant and plumbing maintenance provided proper training has been provided and competency is establishedAssists in painting of board areas not requiring sophisticated training or technical experienceRepaints over graffitiLock up all entrance doors and gates, code out before leaving at night RESPONSIBILITIES: Grounds Waters, trims, and fertilizes lawn, shrubs, hedges, trees and flowers and assists transplanting, fertilizing, and replanting lawn and shrubs as appropriateOperates and maintains power-driven equipment such as lawn mowers, edgers, clippers and other grounds maintenance equipmentMaintains playground areas (back top and lawn)Assists with repairs of playground facilities and school grounds and other outdoor structuresWorks soil and removes weeds, undergrowth, and debris from school grounds and landscaped areas with hand toolsSweeps walks and driveways and picks up paper and rubbishAssists in installation and maintenance of sprinkler systemPerforms other custodial or light maintenance work or minor repairs at assigned site or districtwide as appropriate or assigned. CUSTODIAN Utilizes appropriate safety precautions in the performance of duties to ensure the safety of students and staffPerforms other related duties as assignedPerforms such non-related duties, on a temporary basis, as may be required to meet immediate district needs QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of: Basic cleaning and site care strategiesProper use of cleaning supplies and equipmentAppropriate health and safety regulations and safety precautions and procedures Ability to: Lift or transport up to fifty poundsPerform a variety of cleaning and basic maintenance work involving use of independent judgment requiring accuracy and efficiency Operate basic cleaning and maintenance equipmentWork effectively with occasional interruptionsRead, understand and carry out specific instructionsMaintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including students, staff and the public Training and Experience: Previous experience is preferred Personal Qualities Good HealthMaturity and judgmentNeat and clean appearanceWillingness to assume a wide range of responsibilitiesWillingness to learn new semiskilled maintenance techniquesExcellent interpersonal skillsIndependent workerWillingness to continuously improveGood organizational skillsGood communication skillsFlexibleRequirements / QualificationsAll applicants must apply online through Edjoin.
