Job Title PS Clinical Optometrist — University of Utah Health Research Work Schedule Summary Weekdays | Parkway Health Center in Orem. 20 hours per week, part‑time, day shift. Salary: $125,000 – $200,000. Close date: 02/25/2026. Job Summary Optometrist will provide clinical services to University of Utah Health patients in a manner consistent with the scope of practice and quality of care standards applicable to Optometrist’s training and specialty. Responsibilities Full responsibility and authority over the medical functions of their practice, including diagnosing, treating disease, defects or injuries and recommending or prescribing treatments for the relief or cure of physical, mental or functional ailments. Provide all necessary information and documents to participate as a Medicare and Medicaid physician and under other managed care contracts and federal programs. Take night, weekend and holiday call as required; document on‑call messages. Perform and/or participate in administrative duties, training programs, meetings, and other requirements ancillary to clinical care. Teach medical students and other professional students and complete required documentation for student rotations. Primary responsibilities: Perform eye exams Order appropriate vision screening tests Treat conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses Provide low‑vision aids and vision therapy Diagnose eye conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and conjunctivitis Prescribe medications for certain eye conditions (in some states) Minimum Qualifications Doctorate of Optometry. Valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Utah. Maintain a U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency number without suspension, diminution or revocation. Meet all qualifications to participate in Medicare and Medicaid programs or similar government‑funded health care programs. Maintain a practice consistent with recognized standards of medical care and perform all activities accordingly. Meet qualifications required to obtain professional malpractice liability coverage. Preferences Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred. Additional Information & Benefits University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (URS).
