GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and accurately documenting information in patient records. This role includes managing medical charts, performing electrocardiograms, and assisting with various administrative tasks to support physicians. The Medical Assistant prepares examination rooms for patient assessments and ensures seamless transitions between appointments. Utilizing excellent customer service skills, the Medical Assistant fosters a welcoming environment for patients.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collects and documents patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant data in medical records (e.g., pulse rate, blood pressure, height and weight, pharmacies, primary care providers)
  • Conducts electrocardiograms, device monitoring, sleep study tests, and ABI assessments
  • Obtains patient medical records from external facilities for scheduled visits
  • Demonstrates proficiency in EMR scanning and clinical procedures
  • Assists physicians by performing administrative duties and basic clinical tasks
  • Records new prescriptions and refills during patient visits
  • Secures prior authorizations for medications
  • Supports patients and providers with medication refills
  • Maintains a clean and professional work environment
  • Escorts patients to examination rooms in a friendly and timely manner, providing necessary assistance
  • Stocks examination rooms and upholds cleanliness standards
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • MA Certification required
  • One year of experience as a back office medical assistant preferred
  • Familiarity with EClinical Works, EMR systems preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to travel
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail and organization
  • CPR Certification required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • While performing job duties, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate
