Senior Scientist – Process Development Chemist (Advanced Packaging Technology) We are hiring a Process Development Chemist in support of the rapidly growing Advanced Packaging Technology (ACP) Dielectric and Bonding business. The APT business offers innovative materials and formulations to the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing technology groups in the world. The Process Development Chemist will act as project lead for the successful scale‑up of new APT specially‑synthesized raw materials ranging from small organic molecules to complex polymers and will engage closely with global cross‑functional teams to drive technical project delivery. This position is based in Marlborough, MA. Responsibilities Develop processes to effectively scale up small molecule and polymer syntheses from the lab scale to kilo lab and pilot scale. Coordinate new raw material scale‑up work with adjacent functions such as R&D, Applications, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Quality. Investigate and determine internal or external manufacturing options for new raw materials scale‑up. Provide technical support for successful process transfer to manufacturing. Hands‑on work in the lab for synthesis, purification, filtration, ion exchange and analytical characterization to support raw material supply and process development on the scale from 100 mL to 20 L. Design experiments to identify critical‑to‑function parameters of new raw materials; define and document new raw material specifications and testing methods to ensure consistent functional performance. Effectively communicate and document technical results. Author and contribute to confidential reports, batch records, new material introductions, management of change, product gate meetings and supporting documentation, failure mode analysis, control plans, reactive chemical process hazard analysis, and technology transfer packages. Deliver presentations that distill complex ideas and proactively communicate results and progress to technical teams, management, and business leadership to influence decision making. Seek opportunities for publication of external technical articles and for external speaking. Project Leadership Key project leader within department for new raw materials scale‑up. Formulate project scope, deliverables, timeline, and milestones. Hold project contributors accountable and keep stakeholders informed of status. Drive culture of diversity and inclusion of all ideas and skill sets to deliver the most robust technology and capability of the organization. Create an environment conducive to innovation in support of continuous learning and collaboration. Partner with intra‑ and cross‑functional‑team members and stakeholders from multiple backgrounds. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Work as part of a global R&D and engineering organization with sites in North America, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. Location Marlborough, MA. This position is in‑person with some travel. Qualifications A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials/Polymer Science or related field. Experience in project management, chemical scale‑up, organic and polymer synthesis, process optimization, and use of common chemical analysis tools such as GPC, NMR, LC/MS, HPLC, etc. Strong data analysis and troubleshooting skills; experience using JMP or other statistical tools. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English along with strong attention to detail. Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of time. To learn more visit the Compensation and Benefits page. The Pay range for this role is $94,920.00 – $149,160.00 Annual. How Base Pay is Determined: Qnity has job leveling frameworks that help organize roles based on progressive levels of responsibility, proficiency and qualifications. Each role has an associated pay range (or an established pay rate for some roles) based on the competitive market in each country where we operate.
