Join to apply for the Recovery Support Specialist role at Recovery Centers of America In this position, a Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) is a behavioral health professional who assists patients with substance use and mental health disorders under the direction of the Recovery Support Supervisor and in collaboration with clinical, nursing, and medical staff. The primary focus is to support the delivery of individual patient care through safety monitoring and engagement activities. Key Responsibilities Monitor patient activities, provide security checks throughout the shift, and complete documentation including round sheets, therapeutic activity notes, and end‑of‑shift reports. Participate in direct patient care, ensuring patient safety and interacting therapeutically. Assist with patients’ daily schedules, de‑escalation, and processing of belongings during admissions and visitations. Support patients in completing satisfaction surveys and preparing belongings for discharge. Monitor compliance with rules and schedules at Business Center/Workflex and the Wellness/Fitness Center. Conduct welcoming New Patient Orientation and support the visitation program (greeting, sign‑in, orientation, search, processing). Apply knowledge of 12‑Step Programs, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to the recovery process for patients with SUD and MH disorders. Aid and instruct patients in the RCA Clinical Curriculum and record clinical notes in the electronic medical records system. Assist with patient or belongings transportation as needed. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate excellent customer relations with all contacts, including staff, patients, families, and referral sources. Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred: 1 year experience as an RSS, BHT, MHT, or equivalent direct care worker in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment. Preferred certifications: BHT, CADC, CRADC, CRS, CPRS, CFRS, or equivalent. Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency with required technology hardware, systems, and tools; training will be provided. Familiarity with behavior modification and 12‑step modalities. Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record (where applicable). Customer Service: Demonstrated concern for meeting internal and external customer needs. Problem Solving: Ability to identify problems, involve others, and conduct analyses for solutions. Communication Proficiency: Comfortable using a broad range of communication styles tailored to diverse audiences. Flexibility: Open to change, adapts to new information and unexpected obstacles. Time Management: Efficiently manages multiple tasks and prioritizes important responsibilities. Work Environment This role operates in a professional office environment using standard equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets). The noise level is usually moderate. Physical Demands Regular walking, standing, and occasional sitting; frequent use of hands for handling objects, tools, or controls; ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment.
