Design Verification Engineer

OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our System Verification & Validation team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing testing strategies to validate and verify our innovative solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and delivering high-quality systems. This person should have specific experience with high-voltage batteries, microgrids, electric vehicles or battery management systems.Principal ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute comprehensive test.Conduct system-level and component-level testing to ensure performance, reliability, and safety.Implement hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), software-in-the-loop (SIL), and system-level testing methodologies.Validate communication and interoperability of charging systems.Diagnose and resolve issues, ensuring robust system performance.Provide detailed test reports and feedback to design and development teams.Work closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, software, hardware) to define requirements and testing strategies.Develop automation for testing procedures to enhance testing efficiency and reliability.Ensure testing aligns with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, ISO, MIL-STD) and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with Program management, Systems Engineering, and other cross functional teams to drive product definition, design decisions, team alignment, and day to day program execution.Support resolution of technical issues by working with the cross-functional teams, such as Mechanical, SW, Technology teams, Quality/Reliability, CM, and vendors.Basic QualificationsBS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience5+ years of experience in consumer electronics or related fields5+ years of experience in embedded or mobile system design and testFamiliarity with solid-state device characteristics, dynamic impedance matching, and RF power characterization.Experience and knowledge of printed circuit board (PCB) technologies, such as rigid, flex, hybrid, HDI, etc.Knowledge of the relationship between physical layout and electrical performanceKnowledge of power electronics, battery technologies, and energy systems.Familiarity with testing tools and diagnostic equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers).Proficiency in simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.Ability to develop and execute automated test scripts.Experience leading technical teams, cross-functional groups and vendors against project plansExcellent written and verbal communication skillsComprehensive understanding of the product development, validation, and support life cycle for a complex vertical productConsulting ExperienceAbility to meet vigilant engineering, customer and/or government security screening and background check requirements are required for this roleDue to contractual obligations with the U.S. government, this position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) as defined by applicable federal regulations.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in CS, CE, EE, ME or relatedExperience in renewable energy integration, or energy storage systems.In-depth knowledge of IEC, ISO, and other standards relevant to consumer electronics, aerospace, EVs, BMS, and/or charging infrastructure.Understanding of microgrid control systems and energy management.Demonstrated experience seeing a product from early design all the way through being shipped and supported to a real-world customerExpert in one or more subsystems in typical consumer electronics products such as camera, display, audio, control systems, SOC/Compute, sensors, power etc.Experience performing bench level measurements for high-speed signal and powerExperience leading a team of engineers, test engineers and techniciansVigilant Engineering, LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
