Job DescriptionBlue Ridge Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative (PRN) to join our team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring a positive patient experience by providing high-quality customer service during the registration, check-in, and check-out processes. The Patient Access Representative will work on an as-needed basis, assisting with a variety of tasks including patient registration, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation.Key Responsibilities:-Patient Registration and Check-In: Accurately gather and verify patient information, including personal details, insurance information, and relevant medical history, to create or update records.-Scheduling and Coordination: Assist patients in scheduling appointments, managing cancellations or rescheduling, and providing guidance on follow-up visits as needed.-Insurance Verification: Confirm insurance eligibility and coverage, assist with authorization processes, and communicate any financial obligations to patients prior to appointments.-Financial Counseling and Payments: Collect copayments, answer patient questions about billing, and provide information on available financial assistance programs.-Customer Service: Ensure a welcoming environment for all patients and visitors, answering inquiries, addressing concerns, and directing them to appropriate resources or departments.-Data Entry and Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and privacy policies.-Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with medical staff, billing, and other administrative departments to ensure a smooth and coordinated patient experience.Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in medical office administration or related field preferred.- Prior experience in patient access, patient registration, or a similar healthcare administrative role.- Knowledge of insurance processes, including verification and billing, is a plus.- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.- Proficient in data entry and comfortable using EHR systems (prior experience with specific EHR systems is a plus).- Ability to work on a flexible, as-needed (PRN) basis, including possible weekend and evening shifts.- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
