OverviewAssistant Professor of Research Neurology position at the USC Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute, Keck School of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA.The USC Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute aims to enhance discovery through imaging and data technologies in brain research. The Institute includes the Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (LONI), the Imaging Genetics Center (IGC), and the Center for Image Acquisition (CIA). LONI focuses on mapping brain structure and function; IGC studies brain imaging and genetics; CIA houses advanced MRI scanners and develops innovative MR image acquisition for normal and diseased subjects. INI trains the next generation of scientists through the Masters in Neuroimaging and Informatics program.The Institute seeks a highly-qualified applicant for the position of Assistant Professor of Research (non-tenure track). The successful applicant will have extensive experience in mathematical modeling, biomedical image analysis, statistical analysis, bioinformatics, big data, multimodal MRI, methods development in MRI, or data mining techniques. The candidate should apply mathematical and computer science methods to understand brain structure and function, with a focus on brain mapping and visualization to automatically identify, detect, model, and measure anatomical and functional features in brain scans. Experience in medical imaging related to computerized analysis of 3D brain MRI is required.The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Computer Science, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field with a strong interdisciplinary computational research background. They should have training in modern neuroimaging elements (neuroscience, image acquisition, image processing, computational modeling, informatics) and knowledge of current challenges and state-of-the-art techniques for structural brain mapping, especially data analysis, modeling, statistics, and visualization with large-scale MRI datasets. They should have experience in computational tool development using machine learning and interactive 3D visualization, and substantial experience in research software development, dissemination, and training. Candidates with expertise in diffusion MRI tractography, microstructure imaging, brain lesion segmentation, and preclinical imaging will receive additional consideration. An exceptional publication track record, demonstrated ability to secure external funding, and a commitment to collaborative research within and outside USC are expected.The annual base salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000.
