This role serves as the technical lead on a wide range of developments toward an all-encompassing space-based interceptor design in support of the Golden Dome initiatives. The Chief Engineer will drive technology development through design, build, test, and delivery for on-orbit operations across high dV propulsion systems, optical sensor suites, closed-loop guidance and navigation, and systems engineering in close collaboration with ground software enterprises. The Chief Engineer will develop a technical strategy and roadmap with the Head of Engineering for Space Missions and the Growth/Strategy leads of the Space team to leverage current Anduril technologies and new developments to support customer mission areas. The role addresses pre-award demonstrations, early contract phases, and full-contract execution. The Chief Engineer, working with a multi-disciplinary engineering team, will ensure the efficient development and delivery of hardware and software solutions for the customer.These efforts will include leading complex, integrated systems for on-orbit operations and demonstrations, including sub-contracted teammates and strategic partnerships. The Chief Engineer will facilitate effective technical development and integration that spans company boundaries in an agile development approach within a continuous integration/continuous deployment paradigm. They will balance development of new capabilities with incorporating several pre-existing Anduril or industry capabilities and communicate development status to internal and external stakeholders.The Chief Engineer will oversee all aspects of program execution—from proposals to SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, assembly, qualification testing, and delivery of flight units for launch. In conjunction with the Head of Engineering for Space Missions, they will assist in building infrastructure to execute on a space-based interceptor, including satellite and payload build and test, and working with external vendors to establish test requirements and pass/fail criteria. The Chief Engineer will also collaborate with the Anduril Space C2 team to enable and deliver Space Ground C2 products to customers and to extend Anduril’s presence in customer ecosystems.WHAT YOU’LL DOProvide technical expertise across multiple spacecraft subsystems and ground systemsLeverage strategic partnerships and teammates to build out new products that satisfy customer requirements in new and challenging mission areasProvide space industry expertise to refine and advance the Anduril Space Based Interceptor strategy for customer engagements and demonstrationsContribute technical inputs to proposals, including engineering execution plansProvide oversight to a multi-disciplinary team of engineers through all phases of program execution up to delivery and operation of capabilities on-orbitPerform mission and system-level trade studies and analyses to balance risk, cost, and performanceREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in architecting, developing, and delivering defense/IC satellite and space hardware and software systemsExperience in the missile defense mission area through ground-based interceptors or space-based sensing and understanding of kill chains associated with defeating adversary missile threatsUnderstanding of the current technical state of key USSF and IC space systems and mission areasAbility to decompose complex systems with competing objectives into executable requirements and delivery plans to meet government expectationsExperience with spacecraft qualification and acceptance testing, including GEVS, SMC-S-016 (MIL-STD-1540)Experience with US government space mission areas and CONOPS for enabling space for the warfighterDesign and development of space vehicle and payload architectures to solve complex space domain challengesStrong technical communication skills for delivering briefings and conclusions to technical leadership, company leadership, and customersStrong fundamentals in space systems, space ground infrastructure, and product developmentTechnical experience leading US Government contractsEligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearancePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience delivering spacecraft flight hardwareOn-orbit mission operations of satellites and/or payloadsCompensation and BenefitsUS Salary Range: $254,000 — $336,000 USDThe salary range is an estimate based on compensation factors including base salary.
