Controls TechnicianJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Controls Technician to interpret PLC ladder logic and troubleshoot electrical control systems including PLC, robotics, servos, drives, and touch-screens using a laptop with brands such as Allen Bradley, GE, and Siemens. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in industrial electrical controls or an educational equivalent, with a strong understanding of the National Electric Code.ResponsibilitiesInterpret and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic and electrical control systems.Work with PLCs, robotics, servos, drives, and touch-screens.Fabricate and wire electrical panels and terminal boxes.Read and update electrical and pneumatic schematics.Operate power shop tools and common hand tools.Perform work at heights using a scissor lift.Develop continuous improvement plans for efficiency and cost reduction.Conduct formal root cause analysis.Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members.Stand and/or walk 90% of an 8-hour day, including climbing ladders or steps.Meet vision and hearing requirements.Pass written and practical electrical tests.Follow Electrical Arc Flash Safety and Lock Out Tag Out procedures.Essential Skills5 years of experience in industrial electrical controls or educational equivalent.Working knowledge of the National Electric Code.Ability to fabricate and wire electrical panels and terminal boxes.Proficiency in reading and updating electrical and pneumatic schematics.Solid PC computing skills.Basic understanding of Ohm's Law and Kirchhoff's Law.Ability to perform formal root cause analysis.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications2-year technical degree in electronics/PLC troubleshooting (Associates degree).Experience with PLC programming, electrical troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.Familiarity with brands such as Fanuc, Allen Bradley, and Siemens PLCs.Ability to navigate through software and ladder logic.Ability to sketch and interpret electrical and controls schematics.Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a large industrial manufacturing environment. The position requires the use of personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes and safety glasses. The job involves standing and/or walking for 90% of an 8-hour day, including climbing ladders or steps. The environment may involve working at heights using a scissor lift.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
