OverviewDue to expansion, we are seeking a Group Manager for our Municipal team to lead and oversee the planning, design, and execution of municipal infrastructure projects. Remote work flexibility, competitive compensation and benefits, and a supportive culture have helped CP earn back-to-back Best Places to Work in NJ awards and driven strong employee retention.Base pay range$140,000.00/yr - $190,000.00/yrSalary rangeSalary range: $140,000.00 - $190,000.00ResponsibilitiesDefine and execute annual and long-term business plans for the Municipal Engineering Group, fully aligned with CP Engineers\' company-wide visionEstablish, monitor, and exceed group-level KPIs covering revenue growth, financial utilization, labor multiplier, and client retentionRun the group as a business, including forecasting, resource planning, and identifying new opportunities for growthLead efforts to hire, onboard, and develop high-performers (including Project Managers, Market Managers, and key engineers)Own the group\'s financial health: oversee revenue, profitability, budget stewardship, and capital planningOptimize use of project management and financial tools (e.g., Ajera) to actively monitor and improve key metricsEnsure streamlined billing cycles, efficient management of WIP, and strong receivables performanceHelp set and guide pricing, proposal, and contract strategiesPromote and lead major organizational changes that strengthen how the Municipal Engineering Group functionsChampion continuous improvement, adoption of new technologies, and consistent implementation of best practicesFoster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance environment—ensuring team engagement and alignment with organizational goalsBuild durable client relationships focused on satisfaction, sustainability, and repeat engagementsRepresent CP Engineers at high-level meetings, public forums, and industry events, further strengthening the firm\'s market positionOversee client transitions, relationship continuity, and quality project deliveryDirect and refine group marketing and pursuit efforts, making full use of CRM and analytics for smarter business developmentRecruit, coach, and mentor a civil engineering team to assure both professional growth and delivery excellenceConduct regular staff reviews and collaborate on individualized development plans that support company objectivesDrive accountability for individual and group KPIs and ensure compliance with all personnel policies and proceduresLead project oversight for municipal projects—including roads, stormwater management, and public infrastructure—ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standardsEnsure regulatory compliance and permit adherence for local, state, and federal requirementsProvide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering staffServe as the primary point of contact for municipal clients, representing municipalities as a municipal or board engineer at public meetingsProvide senior oversight across all group projects, ensuring delivery meets standards for quality, budget, and timelinessStandardize project management practices in alignment with company controls and policiesImplement robust QA/QC procedures and support risk management and continuous learningQualificationsBachelor\'s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required; Master\'s or business credential preferredProfessional Engineer (PE) license highly preferredMinimum 15 years of progressive experience in Civil and/or Municipal engineering, with substantial leadership and management responsibilitiesProven track record of building and leading high-performing teams and driving business unit successProven ability to manage medium-to-large complex projectsStrong business and financial acumen; proactive, entrepreneurial mindsetAdvanced leadership and talent development skillsHighly effective communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilitiesExperience with project management and business software (e.g., Ajera, CRM systems)BenefitsHybrid/remote work optionsFlexible hours401(k) with 4% company match20 days paid time offTuition, professional license, and association fee reimbursementMedical, dental, and vision coverageSupport for employee work/life balanceSeniority levelDirectorEmployment typeFull-timeCP Engineers, Architecture & Environmental Services is an equal opportunity employer.
