About the Organization East Louisville Pediatrics is a private pediatric practice that strives to provide the most comprehensive, evidence-based, family-centered care possible for children from birth to adolescence. Our main location is located in St. Matthews Louisville, KY and our satellite office is in Crestwood, KY. We are a very busy pediatric practice that operates Monday through Friday with 8 providers and 2 nurse practitioners. Description POSITION SUMMARY:Assists in the delivery of primary pediatric health services and pediatric patient care management in a clinical setting for physicians and mid-level practitioners (Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician's Assistants) as needed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to): Warmly welcomes patients and families, and escorts them back to the exam room. Performs screening tests for which he or she has been prepared by education and experience. Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Records patient's histories and subjective current status and vital signs. Initiates medical record notation for patient visits in the electronic chart. Completes documentation as directed by the provider. Answers telephone, takes off voicemail messages, responds to calls per direction of providers, and refers callers to the appropriate individual. Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and medications. Give injections, apply dressings, assist physicians with procedures, and complete diagnostic labs. Participates in education, teaching, and counseling patients to follow provider directions and promote optimal well-being and health. Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments. Orders and maintains a proper inventory of clinical supplies and equipment. Maintains patient information with strict confidentiality following HIPPA. Performs other duties as assigned. Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Location East Louisville Pediatrics - Westport Number of Openings 2 Position Medical Assistant/Nursing Position Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and systems. Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving pediatric patient care. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures. Knowledge of medical equipment, medications, and instruments. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and settings. Skill in computer applications including Electronic Medical Records and Microsoft Office. Skill in verbal and written communication, maintaining records, gathering and reporting information. Ability to work effectively and independently with staff, physicians, and patients. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Must have a pleasant disposition and high tolerance level. Ability to work independently with limited supervision.EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: High School graduate or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited program for medical assistant or nursing, with certification from a recognized national organization. Pediatrics and physician office experience a plus.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Involves standing and walking. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires occasional lifting and supporting patients of any weight. Requires exposure to bodily fluids.WORKING CONDITIONS (environment and safety): Work performed in an office environment. Involves frequent contact with professional staff and managed care organizations. Work may be stressful at times.
