Come be a part of our missionWe have an opening for an experienced Senior Staff Computer Systems Architect in Redondo Beach, CA. This position is 100% on site and has a mixture of classified and unclassified work. In this role, you will join a research and development team to provide Subject Matter Expert level technical insight and experience for NG’s Proliferated Space Mesh Networking IR&D activities. The position requires deep knowledge of OSI layers 2 – 6, SD-WAN, Software Defined Networking, use of abstraction and virtualization within networking to include Hypervisor, VM, and Container layers, Linux OS, cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, and GCP), and awareness of various CPU/GPU architectures (x86, ARM, AMD, etc.).Core ResponsibilitiesOngoing research in the emerging proliferated space mesh networking sectorApplication of various open-source / commercial networking standards to specific space-ground networksBuilding emulated network architectures in tools like GNS3, EVE-NG, and ContainerlabsWork with all major network vendor equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, etc.)Tailor network design to unique system requirements and constraintsSoftware Defined Networking paradigmMPLS, IPv4/6, SR-MPLS, Traffic Engineering, Network Emulation, and Time Variant RoutingDeploying virtual router and switch images on various hardware platformsAwareness of cybersecurity controls and guidelines as they are applied to network architecture designBasic Qualifications14 years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree; 12 years of relevant experience with Master's degree; 10 years of relevant experience with PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degreeAbility to obtain SCI/CI PolyExtensive experience with IPv4/IPv6, subnettingExtensive experience with L2 thru L6 networkingExtensive experience with static and dynamic routingDISA STIGs as they apply to network devicesSecurity+ or similar certificationPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a STEM disciplineActive SCI/CI PolyExperience with Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia applicationsExperience with Software Defined NetworkingExperience with various hypervisors (VMware, OpenShift, etc.)Experience in virtual environments (required to help host virtual images of routers, etc. including containers, hypervisors, VMsExperience with Crypto units such as HAIPEExperience with AWSExperience with MPLS, SR-MPLS, PCEP, TVR, IS-IS, OSPF, gNMI/RPCExperience with Network Emulation (Containerlabs, EVE-NG, GNS3, etc.)CISSP, Cisco, and/or Juniper certificationsKnowledge of bridging hardware to software and virtual environments, including bridging virtual network ports to physical hardwareKnowledge of multiple hardware bases (x86, AMD, ARM)Primary Level Salary Range: $188,200.00 - $282,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
