Certified Pharmacy Technician

Certified Pharmacy Technician – Walgreens $21.00/hr – $24.50/hr Responsibilities Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties, in accordance with state and federal regulations and Company policies. Uses pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information, processes prescriptions, and for PTCB‑certified technicians, coaches other technicians and cashiers on pharmacy systems and cash registers. Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Customer Experience Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive experience. Shares customer‑service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits (e.g., proactive help, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied). Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers. Operations Conducts pharmacy duties under pharmacist supervision, reviews and complies with the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct. Performs duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager: enters patient and drug information, fills prescriptions, verifies medicine, checks for interactions, and assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow. Reports prescription errors promptly to the on‑duty pharmacist and follows Company policies in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program. Strictly adheres to Walgreens policy on Good Faith Dispensing during prescription dispensing activities. Registers sales on the assigned cash register, handles cash, and assists customers in the OTC aisle. Handles telephone calls that do not require pharmacist’s attention, including physician calls. Processes manual claims for third‑party prescription services efficiently and performs other clerical duties as assigned. Supports Pharmacy Department inventory‑management activities: ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipments, maintaining knowledge of asset‑protection techniques, and filing claims for overages, shortages or order errors. Might assist pharmacist in administering clinical services (e.g., collecting and labeling samples) and coordinating Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers. Supports communication with the local medical community, including outreach to healthcare providers and community forums. Maintains a clean, orderly Pharmacy Department and complies with all company policies. Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned. Training & Personal Development Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program; otherwise earns PTCB certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician. Attends training and completes required PPLs, acquires continuing education credits, and maintains knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments. Basic Qualifications Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours. Preferred Qualifications Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment. Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens. Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling. Prefer strong computer skills. Prefer knowledge of store inventory control. Prefer PTCB certification. We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
