Apply for the NURSE EXTERN II, FWBH – NURSING ICU role at Froedtert Health. Location: West Bend, WI – Froedtert West Bend Hospital. Standard Hours: 12.00, FTE: 0.3, Shift: 1. Job Summary Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Nurse Extern provides routine care and assists patients with activities of daily living. Responsible to the Patient Care Director and RN on duty on each shift. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum two acute care medical‑surgical clinical rotations, or one medical‑surgical rotation plus one pertinent clinical rotation, with at least one rotation including medication administration. Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing, or a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing who is waiting to retake the NCLEX exam. Experience of six months or more as a nursing assistant is preferred. Clinical Skills & Licensure Ability to read, write, understand, perform simple arithmetic, and follow directions related to basic patient care. Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients, visitors, and physicians in a courteous manner. Ability to complete simple comparisons between numbers; maintain concentration and attention to detail for 80 % of work time. Walk and stand up to 80 % of work time; lift and position patients up to 20 % of work time. State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification preferred; otherwise proof of completion of the basic nursing course from an accredited school. American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA‑approved equivalent required within 90 days of hire.
