**Job Title:** Medical Laboratory Technician

**Job Duration:** 13 Weeks

**Shift:** Nights, 36-hours weekly, could be 7 on/7 off, 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, every other weekend and holiday

**Guaranteed Hours:** Not specified

**Experience:** Minimum 1 year

**License:** North Dakota License required prior to start date - provisional license is acceptable.

**Certifications:** MLS, MT, CLS certifications accepted from ASCP, AAB, AMT, or NCA. Professional certification must be obtained within 12 months of start date.

**Must-Have:** CLIA Requirements mandate an official transcript and/or diploma on file.

**Job Description:**
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and independent judgment required for laboratory settings.
- Understands scientific principles, technical elements of laboratory testing, and result interpretation.
- Capable of performing waived, moderate, and high complexity testing.
- Possesses skills to perform routine phlebotomy for patients of all age groups.
- Interprets quality control values, troubleshoots and resolves QC failures, and participates in quality assurance activities.
- Operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation, recognizing when major repair or replacement is needed.
- Ensures clear and concise specimen identification throughout the analytical process.
- Utilizes technology for recording and retrieving data according to standard operating procedures.
- Collects blood specimens and ensures integrity through accurate patient identification and specimen handling.
- Organizes workload to maximize productivity and ensures completion according to guidelines.
- Interprets and investigates QC values and failures, notifying necessary authority and documenting actions taken.
- Provides on-site consultation and remains accessible to laboratory staff for resolving technical problems.
- Performs duties as needed to meet departmental needs and standards.
