**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)

**Job Specialty:** Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse

**Job Duration:** 24 months

**Shift:** 12-hour nights, 2 weekends per 4 weeks, 2 out of 3 major holidays

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum 2 years

**License:** Required

**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

**Must-Have:** Strong IV skills, ability to read and interpret telemetry strips, proficiency with ABCDE bundle, and knowledgeable in managing ventilators.

**Job Description:**

- Pre-screened candidates are recommended by the Clinical Team.
- ICU nurses may be deployed to the Emergency Department to care for boarded ICU patients or work within the ICU.
- ICU nurses are required to float to telemetry and medical-surgical floors and may take 4 to 5 patients, with travelers being the first to float.
- Comfortable working with a 1 to 2 patient ratio in a 20-bed unit.
- Knowledgeable with Cerner electronic medical record system.
- Charge Nurses provide resources and do not take patients during their shifts.
- No Nurse Aides available.
- Weekend requirement includes 2 weekends every 4 weeks, and work on every other major holiday.
- Navy scrub color required.
- Respiratory Therapists manage ventilators, with 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy support.
- Shifts start at 7 AM and 7 PM.
- Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, DKA hyperglycemia, PN, COPD, PCI cardiac services, CVA, and GI bleeds, with ICU patients recovering from surgery.
- The role requires comfort with vent management and the ABCDE bundle.
- Hospitalists or intensivists are present in-house 24/7, with internists available continuously and pulmonologists acting as intensivists.
- Floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts in the ICU and 1 shift in another unit.

The role is crucial for delivering high-quality care to critically ill patients and requires strong nursing skills, adaptability, and teamwork.
