**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Certifications:** BLS, NIHSS

**Must-Have:** 1 year of experience, open to first-time travelers

**Job Description:**

- **Unit Capacity:** 37 beds, primarily focusing on surgical, orthopedic, and trauma patients.
- **Common Diagnoses/Patients:** Elective surgeries, total joint replacements, bariatric surgeries (sleeves, bypasses, Roux-en-Y), general and trauma care. Handles COVID-non symptomatic, hospice/palliative care, and severe suicide attempts.
- **Nurse-Patient Ratios:** 1:5
- **Charge Nurse/House Supervisor:** Charge Nurse has ACLS; may take up to 2 patient assignments if necessary.
- **Support Staff:** Nurse aides are available (3 during day shift, 2 during night shift).
- **RT Equipment:** CPAP (home regimen)
- **Scheduling:** Allows self-scheduling balanced by management. Schedule is prepared 6 weeks ahead.
- **Weekend Requirement:** Every other weekend.
- **Holiday Requirement:** Rotation with core staff.
- **Floating Requirements:** May float to assist with basic RN skill set tasks. Will not float outside the scope of MedSurg responsibilities.
- **Scrub Color/Dress Code:** Navy with optional navy scrub jackets. Undershirts must be navy.
- **Orientation:** Includes classwork on skills, policies, procedures, Meditech training, followed by 2-3 shifts on the floor. Orientation contains 1 day shift and 1 night shift if the position is for nights.
- **Cancellation Policy:** Hospital may cancel up to 3 times per contract, either a full shift or part of a shift. Hospital may offer full hours payment instead of cancellation.
