**Job Specialty:** PreOp-PACU
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12 Hour Days
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum of 1.5 years
**License:** Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing
**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, PALS
**Must-Have:** Proficiency with EPIC charting system
**Job Description:**
- Work within a facility featuring 13 Pre-Op beds, 15 PACU beds, and 6 Phase 2 Recovery beds.
- Care for a diverse patient population ranging from infants to geriatrics; primarily ambulatory/elective and acute care/trauma cases.
- Maintain patient ratios: RN in Pre-Op 1:2, PACU 1:1 or 1:2, Phase 2 1:1-3; dependent on patient acuity.
- Engage in Pre-Op and recovery for Endo patients; no Intra-op duties.
- Required competencies include IV insertion, ventilator use, epidural/PCA setup/initiation, and managing blood product transfusions.
- Administer moderate sedation and apply critical thinking skills to patient care.
- Collaborate with six nursing assistants, a resource nurse, and facility teams such as phlebotomy, IV/VAT, RT, and hospitalists.
- Participate in a rotating weekend call schedule and holiday rotations.
- Attend a general facility orientation followed by a week-long unit-specific orientation.
- May float between PreOp, PACU, Endo, and Phase 2 departments as needed.
**Additional Information:**
- Scrub Color: Navy blue
- Orientation includes one day in each department: PreOp, PACU, Phase II, Endo
- Approval of time-off requests goes through management, with specific blackout periods.
- Be prepared for weekend rotation every three weeks, involving various on-call shifts.
