Description: The Research Nurse Manager will provide support for the Research Department.
The Research Nurse Manager performs a combination of leadership tasks, administrative duties and direct patient care. They assign tasks to their nursing team and spend time evaluating their behavior and analyzing their patient outcomes to identify successes and areas for improvement. They address issues like hygiene, infection control and best practices for administering medication.
Nurse Managers spend time coaching Nurses one-on-one and setting goals for their career growth. They facilitate communication between their team and other staff such as Physicians, Managers, Administrators and custodial staff. They also analyze financial data and compare the budget to expenses and plan new initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN or MSN preferred.
• RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• One-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Current ACLS certification required.
• Current or pending oncology certification preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities and Duties
• Adheres to applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures related to clinical research.
• Complies with and ensures staff compliance with NEXT SOPs.
• Participates in providing timely, informative, and accurate communication with the interdisciplinary team to ensure protocol compliance and timeliness of protocol-related procedures
• Provides leadership and support in clinical areas.
• Ensure adequate staffing/FTEs for assigned clinics
• Maintains effective nursing staff coverage and operating costs for the practice.
• Assists with annual performance evaluations for nursing department staff.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining a schedule of staffing assignments.
• Staff Development - Coordinates, implements, and assists with staff training, in-services, and internal developmental programs for nursing staff.
• Serves as mentor/preceptor and provides day to day guidance to less experienced nurses
• Provides oversight and support for the delivery of patient services; acting as liaison with patients, businesses; and planning for space allocation and prudent resource utilization.
• Demonstrates continuous re-evaluation of methods and approaches to assure efficiency and quality of all clinical services provided.
• Continuously reviews workflows to ensure and promote patient safety, timeliness of services, maintain physical resources for efficient, cost effective and a safe environment.
• Ensures that patient satisfaction is maintained at every opportunity and provides opportunities for regular feedback.
• Acts as point of contact for patient complaints/incidents and takes appropriate action as needed.
• Communicates with staff to ensure the efficient flow of clinical services.
• Ensures quality service delivery for all patients, staff and physicians.
• Stays abreast of changing regulations that may impact clinical operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Director of Clinical Operations reports to the VP of Clinical Operations.
