**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum of one year of nursing experience
**License:** Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina
**Certifications:**
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (AHA or ARC)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (AHA or ARC)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
**Must-Have:** Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing
**Job Description:**
- Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
- Reports to and is accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director.
- Coordinates and delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
- Engages in identifying and meeting learning needs and attends education programs accordingly.
- Utilizes patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
- Conducts patient assessments to gauge readiness and factors affecting learning ability.
- Formulates and updates patient care plans and outcomes.
- Participates in interdisciplinary discussions to evaluate patient care and communicates for continuity.
- Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex issues, focusing on holistic needs.
- Performs bedside care and point of care testing as required.
- Adheres to nursing standards and hospital policies in delivering care.
- Organizes care according to patient and family needs and consults appropriate resources when needed.
- Contributes to professional growth and improvement activities within the unit.
- Advocates for safe, clean, and secure hospital environments.
- Utilizes effective communication systems and promotes cost-effective care.
- Proactively assesses and anticipates patient and family discharge needs.
- Builds relationships with families for better advocacy.
- Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update care plans, utilizing multidisciplinary resources.
- Incorporates cultural and ethnic considerations into planning patient care.
- Participates in research and the application of new nursing practices.
This position is a backfill role requiring strong attention to detail, effective communication, and evidence-based practice knowledge.
