**Job Title:** Echo Technologist

**Shift:** Day Shift (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday)

**Guaranteed Hours:** 40 Per Week

**Experience:** Minimum of 3 Years

**License:** Required - Credentialing in Echocardiography

**Certifications:**
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in Echocardiography
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)

**Must-Have:**
- Proficiency in the use of ultrasound equipment and software systems
- Fluent in English (Read, Write, Speak)
- Basic computer knowledge with competencies in word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsing
- Knowledge of patient positioning, transducer placement, and breathing techniques for optimal cardiac visualization

**Job Description:**

- Perform high-quality two-dimensional ultrasound studies of the heart and great vessels
- Identify EKG abnormalities and arrhythmias
- Utilize complementing imaging and/or Doppler techniques as needed
- Demonstrate expertise in M-Mode technique for cardiac measurements
- Estimate valvular insufficiencies using color flow Doppler
- Assess blood flow with pulsed and continuous-wave Doppler
- Employ contrast echocardiography for suboptimal two-dimensional and color flow images
- Evaluate ventricular functions and document wall motion abnormalities
- Recognize simple and complex congenital and acquired heart pathologies
- Complete studies per updated protocols, adding extra views, calculations, and measurements as necessary
- Apply a segmental approach for obtaining images from four echocardiographic windows
- Operate ultrasound equipment efficiently, adjusting controls for optimal image quality
- Select the appropriate transducer for specific structure resolution and penetration
- Review and document patient history for diagnostic support
- Correlate clinical history with exams, consulting cardiologists as required
- Monitor, record, charge, and communicate using computerized documentation systems
- Prepare, instruct, and assist patients for stress echocardiograms
- Support cardiologists in transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)
- Communicate results effectively and address cardiologist inquiries
- Maintain monthly correlation studies and statistics
- Troubleshoot equipment and report failures
- Participate in regional mobile echo/vascular services and callback rotation
- Assist in functional, pharmacological cardiolite, and echocardiography stress testing
- Document procedures accurately
- Assess patients' physical abilities for testing
- Interpret and clarify physician orders accurately
- Provide thorough patient assessments in crisis situations and notify physicians when necessary
- Display proficiency in identifying lethal arrhythmias
- Complete quarterly competency in stress lab, Holter monitoring, and event monitoring
