**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 per week
**Experience:** Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience preferred. Candidates with 1.5 years of ED experience combined with 2 years of experience in other acute care settings may be considered with management approval. Travel experience is not included in the minimum requirement.
**License:** Registered Nurse (RN) – Approved by a board of nursing
**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS required; CPI or MAB/MOAB preferred
**Must-Have:**
- Experience with a wide range of patient types, including neonates to geriatrics, and minor to critical patients.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and prioritization skills.
- Comfort with handling Sexual Assault cases and evidence collection.
**Job Description:**
- Provide care for patients with a variety of conditions including sepsis, DKA, respiratory illnesses, GI bleeds, trauma, and stroke.
- Manage a high trauma patient population, particularly during busy months, with conditions like stab wounds, gunshot wounds, motor vehicle collisions, drowning, and falls.
- Act as part of a Complete Stroke Center team handling strokes up to 24 hours.
- Care for pediatric patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and manage cardiac patients with access to cardiac catheter labs.
- Execute ESI assessments and triage, discern between varying levels of patient acuity, and prioritize care appropriately.
- Collect evidence in Sexual Assault cases in collaboration with permanent staff, using provided resources and support from a Quality Coordinator.
- Work collaboratively within a team including ED Techs, Charge Nurses, and Phlebotomy staff, with 24/7 physician and NP coverage.
- Utilize EPIC charting system and maintain functionality with Omnicell and Alaris equipment.
- Float as needed within the Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU areas as a task nurse without taking full patient assignments.
- Participate in an 8-hour facility orientation, 4 hours of ED-specific education, and complete on-the-unit training shifts.
- Variable shifts with potential weekend work aligning with staffing requirements. No on-call duties except for occasional holidays depending on needs.
This role requires a proactive, adaptable nurse ready to tackle various challenges in a fast-paced emergency department setting.
