**Job Title:** Certified Operating Room Technician (Surgical Tech)

**Job Duration:** 13 weeks

**Shift:** Day 4x10-Hour (07:00 - 17:00)

**Guaranteed Hours:** To be discussed

**Experience:** Minimum two years of recent acute care hospital experience as a surgical technologist, with documented competency in at least three surgical specialties. Ophthalmology experience is preferred.

**License:** Valid state license required at time of submission

**Certifications:**
- BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- CST - Certified Surgical Technologist preferred

**Must-Have:**
- 2 years of experience
- Travel experience

**Job Description:**

- Participate as a member of the perioperative team under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Perform direct and indirect perioperative tasks for patients undergoing surgical and endoscopic procedures.
- Assist anesthesia personnel.
- Focus primarily on the scrub person role.
- Participate in the planning and provision of perioperative care for patients in various stages of adulthood.
- Work on a flexible schedule as assigned, with weekend shifts on a rotating basis.
- Preoperative functions include selecting supplies, preparing the operating room, and securing necessary instruments and equipment.
- Provide scrub services for minor and major surgical procedures across at least three different surgical services.
- Assist the surgeon with various tasks like holding retractors, handling cameras, sponging or suctioning, applying electrocautery, cutting sutures, assisting with staple skin closure, connecting drains, and applying dressings.
- Assume responsibility for specimens on the field and communicate information to the circulator for documentation.
- Assist in transferring patients postoperatively and perform sanitation tasks in the operating room.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for at least one surgical service and assist with the maintenance of specialty instruments and equipment.
- Report defective material or equipment to the Charge Nurse and report unsafe conditions.
- Update surgeon preference lists and assist with the evaluation of specialty instruments and equipment.
- Participate in continuing education and in-service training, and contribute to unit and department goals.
- Adhere to customer service guidelines and practice service recovery when appropriate.
- Comply with hospital safety protocols and promote patient and staff safety.

Please note that orientation hours total 16, and modules are completed during orientation. Any additional module hours are considered non-billable.
