**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)

**Job Specialty:** Radiation Oncology

**Job Duration:** 13 weeks

**Shift:** 8-hour days, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with flexibility based on patient volume

**Guaranteed Hours:** 40 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum of 2 years in patient assessment and documentation; experience in radiation oncology is preferred

**License:** Active RN license to practice in Illinois

**Certifications:** Current CPR certification

**Must-Have:**
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in oncology
- Outpatient experience (preferred)
- Epic experience (preferred)

**Job Description:**
- Assist the patient care team with the intake of outpatients, orienting patients to the room, and introducing team personnel
- Take and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration
- Interview patients to obtain their health history, document allergies, and current use of medications
- Assess and track individual skin care needs, apply dressings, bandages, and compresses
- Assist with ambulating or transferring patients, collect and label lab specimens
- Perform physical assessments of patients upon admission and according to protocol
- Review diagnostic data such as laboratory values and radiology reports and incorporate into the assessment process
- Contact physicians to notify them of patient admissions and communicate significant findings
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients' responses to treatments and therapies
- Provide daily comfort to patients, assist physicians during outpatient procedures as needed
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to coordinate the delivery of care
- Evaluate patients' needs and provide discharge teaching with healthcare professionals' input
- Teach patients and family members self-care or home care techniques

**Additional Information:**
- Training and orientation are done on-site and on-the-job with shadowing and hands-on experience until comfortable
- Dress code includes scrubs and a lab jacket
- Shift includes a weekend and holiday rotation if necessary
