**Experience:**
- RN: Minimum of 1 year, prefer more experience
- CNA: Minimum of 1 year, ask manager approval for candidates with previous hospital experience but not within the last year
**License:** Registered Nurse License
**Certifications:**
- RN: Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred, EKG interpretation/ACLS preferred
- CNA: Basic Life Support (BLS)
**Must-Have:**
- Previous charge experience is highly preferred for RN
- Skills in cardiac drips (training available), reading/interpreting rhythm strips, trach care, chest tube management, and general medical-surgical skills
- CNA skills in obtaining vital signs, patient care, ambulation, communication, and teamwork
**Job Description:**
- Provide nursing care in a non-surgical unit with 44 private and semi-private rooms
- Monitor and manage patients on Telemetry with medical diagnosis (except primary cardiac)
- Common diagnoses include stroke, COPD, respiratory issues, Flu/PNA/COVID, GI bleed, renal failure, electrolyte imbalance, altered mental status, and fractures
- Patient Ratios: RN days 1:4-5; RN nights 1:5-6; CNA days/nights 1:10
- Occasional total care wards for less acute patients due to call-ins
- Supported by unit resources like CNA, charge nurse, phlebotomy, house supervisor, RT, hospitalist, PT/OT/ST, and unit resource RN
- Use of Cerner Charting System and Alaris/Pyxis equipment
- Will float as often needed to areas with Med/Tele patients within scope
- 2 days of hospital orientation and 1 shift on the unit
- Weekend rotation every other week; no call required
- No holiday RTO accepted currently
- Professional attire; no crocs with holes, artificial nails, or phone usage unless during breaks
