**Description:**
Under general supervision, the RN provides nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with health issues ranging from simple to complex. The nurse assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients and documents their responses to nursing interventions and prescribed treatments. This role involves assisting physicians during patient examinations and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. The RN is responsible for obtaining and monitoring physiological data of patients, observing their physiological manifestations, and intervening as necessary.
The RN administers medications and initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products, delivering patient care competently. Interaction with patients and their families is essential to share the care plan during hospitalization and at discharge. The RN informs patients and families regarding hospital procedures and makes referrals to appropriate personnel for patient care needs. This role also includes delegating tasks to support staff.
Other duties as assigned. Required skills include knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures; the ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services; and good verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in responding effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors and some computer skills are also required.
**Education:** Graduate from an accredited school of nursing is required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing is preferred.
