**Experience:** Prior healthcare experience required. Prior laboratory experience performing phlebotomy, waived, moderate complexity, and high complexity testing preferred.

**License:** Current Certification/Licensure as a Medical Lab Technician, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist

**Certifications:** Must qualify for and obtain a Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist certificate through the relevant state health department within 90 days of hire.

**Must-Have:** Ability to perform waived, moderate, and high complexity testing as defined by CLIA

**Job Description:**

- Perform waived, moderate, and high complexity testing, including Blood Bank, Hematology slide reviews/manual differentials, and Urinalysis.
- Available to work varying shifts, including weekends and participate in after-hours call rotation with a maximum 20-minute response time.
- Collect samples via phlebotomy, including capillary, venous, and therapeutic procedures; swab collections; and urine collections for various testing needs.
- Offer patient instructions for proper specimen collection of body fluids if required.
- Ensure patient safety and respect by following standard precautions at all times.
- Maintain quality results through routine equipment maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, quality control measures, and protocols.
- Process samples for analysis or for shipment to reference labs and evaluate samples for acceptability.
- Analyze samples using appropriate equipment and assess results for accuracy before releasing them.
- Steward laboratory reagents and supplies responsibly, report needs according to procedure, and contribute to maintaining Blood Bank unit inventory.
- Practice strong attention to detail to minimize the likelihood of medical errors during testing and reporting results.
- Support a culture of safety and quality and work collaboratively with other lab and hospital staff.
- Demonstrate teamwork values and help maintain a clean and orderly shared workspace.
- Maintain professional certification through Continuing Education credits.
- Fulfill duties independently and assist with additional tasks and projects as needed.
- Represent the organization positively and professionally within the community.
- Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices and confidentiality regulations, such as HIPAA.
