**Description:**

**Job Summary:**
The RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and leaders, supported through a Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and align with organizational values. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold nursing practices as outlined by the applicable nursing practice acts and ethical standards.

**Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:**

- **Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:** Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) to deliver clinical care based on evidence-based practice, ensuring individualized care and partnerships to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Provide relationship-based care consistent with population-specific characteristics, adapting service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity. Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate communication methods to focus on patient goals and current clinical practice standards.

- **Teamwork and Collaboration:** Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care utilizing diverse and inclusive communication methods. Demonstrate teamwork by practicing fiscal responsibility and promoting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members. Participate in and support performance improvement and shared governance.

- **Professional Development and Initiative:** Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education. Serve as a preceptor or mentor, modeling professional nursing practice and supporting workforce development.

- **Evidence-Based Practice and Research:** Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. Participate in data collection, pose relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice, and consult with experts.

- **Resources and Support:** Plan proactively for patient care continuity. Collaborate with care managers and healthcare team members to develop best practice protocols and procedures, supporting efficient use of resources.

Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all organizational policies, standards of work, and codes of conduct.
