**Must-Have:** Experience with a wide range of patient types, including trauma and critical care
**Description:**
This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department of a busy healthcare facility. The facility sees 150-180 patients daily and includes areas for trauma/resuscitation and behavioral health. The Emergency Department also supports a Vertical Care area for specific types of patient care.
Patient types range from neonates to geriatrics, covering a variety of conditions such as sepsis, DKA, respiratory illnesses, and severe trauma. The facility is designated as a Level 2 Trauma Center and Complete Stroke Center.
Travel nurses will participate in the care of sexual assault patients and are expected to handle evidence collection alongside permanent staff. Critical skills include performing ESI assessments and triage to effectively prioritize patient needs.
Support on the unit includes an ED Tech, a lead tech, charge nurses for day and night shifts, and 24/7 coverage by physicians, hospitalists, and nurse practitioners. Other resources include 24/7 phlebotomy and radiology services, respiratory therapy, and security.
The charting system used is EPIC. Nurses may need to float to inpatient Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU areas as task nurses, without taking on full assignments.
Orientation consists of 8 hours of facility introduction, 4 hours of department-specific education, and a minimum of two 12-hour shifts on the unit. Scheduling involves variable shifts to cover gaps in the permanent staff schedule.
Candidates should be adaptable, possess strong critical thinking and communication skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with diverse patient needs.
