**Job Title:** Sterile Processing Distribution (SPD) Technician

**Certifications:** CRCST or CSPDT required

**Must-Have:**
- Basic computer skills
- Understanding of basic medical terminology
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work repetitiously for long periods of time
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently

**Job Description:**

- Decontaminate, disassemble, clean, reassemble, package, and sterilize instrumentation for surgical cases, clinics, and nursing units.
- Follow protocols to ensure equipment/instrumentation processing meets standards for AAMI and organizational Infection Control guidelines.
- Provide both disposable and reusable equipment to the Operating Room.
- Perform the re-assembly and packaging of instrument sets accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct manual and mechanical cleaning of reusable instrumentation and equipment.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, defects, and proper functionality.
- Use various electronic equipment to inspect electrosurgical instruments and cables for defects.
- Restock Specialty Carts and Omnicells as necessary.
- Document completed work and verify processing parameters within the SPD Information System.
- Sterilize instrument sets in accordance with departmental policies and manufacturer instructions for use (IFU).
- Pick supplies for same-day/next-day surgical cases.
- Answer telephone calls from internal and external customers.

**Preferred Education:** High school diploma or GED required.

**Languages:** English proficiency required (read, write, speak)
