**Job Description:**
- Unit consists of 64 beds spread across two floors.
- Serve a mixed acuity unit with Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and MedSurg patient types.
- Handle surgical patients: urology, prostatectomy, bowel obstruction, mass removal, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and general abdominal surgeries.
- Manage orthopedic cases: total joints, ortho trauma, external fixation, soft tissue injury, and minor fractures.
- Care for neuro/spine patients: CVA/TIA, seizures, epilepsy, brain tumors, hematomas, brain aneurysms, and spinal surgeries like laminectomies, fusions, and discectomies.
- Handle general medical cases: cellulitis, influenza, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure, hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders, DVTs, and UTIs.
- Experience in wound care, telemetry monitoring, cardiac strip interpretation, and providing post-surgical care.
- Responsibilities include medication administration, TPN/tube feeding, blood product transfusions, and managing variety of drainage devices.
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 for PCU assignments, and 1:8 for CNA.
- Work within a supportive environment with charge nurses, flex nurses, and various support teams like phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, and hospitalists.
- Participate in a structured orientation including two days of unit/department orientation and two shifts with a preceptor.
- Potential to float to any adult inpatient unit including Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, and Observation, based on scope of practice.
- Weekend rotation may involve up to 4 out of 6 weekends.
- Must adhere to unit's roller time off policies and holiday expectations.
