**Job Title:** Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Nurse

**Must-Have:** - 1 year of experience with cardiovascular intensive care patients

**Description:**
- **Department Notes:** The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit is equipped with 18 beds and is focused on the care of patients recovering from open heart surgery, complex thoracic and vascular procedures. Patients may require stabilization and support with devices such as impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO. The unit also accommodates complex cases from the cath lab, structural heart program, EP lab, ER, and clinics.
- **Nurse to Patient Ratios:** 1:1
- **Responsibilities:** RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics.
- **Support:** The unit does not have CNAs. However, there is a charge nurse on each shift who does take an assignment.
- **24/7 Care:** Hospitalist and intensivist teams are present in-house 24/7.
- **Equipment:** RNs are expected to manage respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen, in addition to troubleshooting issues. RNs are required to read and interpret their own cardiac strips.
- **Shifts & Scheduling:** Typical shift times are 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM and 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM. The schedule is managed by the unit manager.
- **Weekend & Holiday Requirements:** Every other weekend and holiday coverage required based on unit needs.
- **Floating Requirements:** Nurses may float to all inpatient units except maternity and NICU.
- **Dress Code:** Navy Blue scrubs are required.
- **Orientation:** Two shifts of unit/department-specific orientation are provided.
- **Charting System:** EPIC
- **Trauma Level:** Level 1
- **Care Setting:** Acute Nursing Division
