**Job Title:** Labor and Delivery Nurse

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**License:** Registered Nurse

**Certifications:** AWHONN Fetal Monitoring, NRP, BLS, S.T.A.B.L.E.

**Must-Have:** Experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and nursery care. Special care nursery skills required. Proficiency in sterile technique and infection control. Effective communication and ability to perform in high-stress situations.

**Job Description:**

- Perform admitting assessments, review history, and develop plan of care.
- Initiate fetal heart monitors, perform vaginal exams, interpret fetal heart tones, and monitor labor progress.
- Support laboring mothers with exercises, pain management, and administer medications as ordered.
- Prepare birthing room for delivery using strict sterile techniques.
- Prepare mothers for C-section, provide emotional support, obtain consents, and coordinate surgery transfers.
- Assist with Pitocin inductions, adjust drips, and be alert for any abnormalities.
- Document nursing care in electronic health records.
- Assist with labor care procedures and anesthesia administration.
- Perform post-delivery care: Apgar scoring, suction infants, apply ID bands, and promote bonding.
- Provide post-partum care, education on childcare, breastfeeding, and self-care.
- Perform nursery care tasks: operate equipment, assist with circumcisions, stabilize infants, and manage feedings.
- Administer medications, operate pumps, and maintain IV/oxygen therapy for infants.
- Care for post-surgical patients per protocol.
- Perform discharge teaching for patients.
- Ensure infection control adherence and enforce policies.
- Maintain OB department operations, stock supplies, and request maintenance support.
- Knowledge of specialized OB equipment and procedures.
- Participate in in-services and staff meetings.
- May float to other hospital areas for CNA duties or visual observation sitter roles.
- Excludes performing intubations, arterial punctures, and other specified procedures without validation.

Additional Information: A 100-mile radius restriction is applied for this position. Participation in holiday coverage is required.
