**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 per week

**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year in a hospital setting preferred

**License:** Washington State RN License

**Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred

**Must-Have:** Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

**Job Description:**

- Provide professional nursing care for hospital patients and outpatients following established standards and practices.
- Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain accurate medical records.
- Serve as a role model, leader, and bedside care coordinator of the multidisciplinary team providing patient care.
- Perform general nursing care for patients and administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Maintain safe keeping of medications according to hospital policy.
- Prepare equipment and aid physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Observe, record, and report patient's condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Dispense medication as directed and respond to telephone inquiries related to patient care.
- Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information, and post test and examination results.
- Prepare lists of medical supplies needed and assess patient and family needs to provide quality care.
- Develop, discuss, and communicate appropriate care plans for each patient, in collaboration with relevant departments and the patient/family/significant others.
- Demonstrate skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plans of care, nursing interventions, and procedures.
- Evaluate identified problems and care provided, reassessing patient and family needs to ensure quality care.
- Ensure up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided.
- Function as a role model for current and new staff, attending all required safety training programs.
- Follow hospital infection control policies and promote a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
- Work effectively as part of a department/unit team to facilitate meeting goals and objectives.
- Direct licenses and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients.
- Assume activities relative to the developmental needs of the unit and nursing department.
- Demonstrate dependability and flexibility in meeting scheduling needs.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
- Engage in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatments.
- Provide health teaching regarding nutrition, exercise, preventative measures, and tests.
- Administer medication via injection, perform blood draws, prepare urine specimens, complete lab requisitions, review lab reports, and inform physicians of abnormal results.
- Perform related work as assigned.
