**Job Title:** Respiratory Therapist

**Shift:** 12-Hour Day Shift

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours per Week

**Experience:** Successful completion of a respiratory therapy program from an accredited school

**License:** Respiratory Care Practitioner License in the State of Illinois

**Certifications:**
- Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association

**Must-Have:**
- Basic electronic medical record documentation skills
- Understanding of a drug-free campus policy
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds
- Ability to stand for up to 4 hours at a time
- Manual dexterity and effective communication skills

**Job Description:**

- Work in accordance with evidence-based policies and procedures.
- Provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by the prescribing physician, catering to all ages with a focus on the adult population.
- Administer medical gases, medications, airway clearance, mechanical ventilation, and other respiratory modalities.
- Monitor supplies and equipment for department and patient care areas.
- Apply theoretical knowledge to the care of pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients.
- Perform life-sustaining interventions during emergencies, including managing airway during rapid responses.
- Initiate and manage various mechanical ventilation techniques independently.
- Administer aerosolized medication, deliver medical-grade oxygen or air, and initiate/maintain mechanical ventilators as required.
- Administer specialty medical gases such as Nitrogen, Heliox, and Nitric Oxide.
- Evaluate patient response to therapy and recommend changes as needed.
- Document interventions and responses in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds in ICUs and intermediate units.
