**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)

**Job Specialty:** MedSurg/Intermediate Care - Pulmonary & Nephrology

**Job Duration:** 13 Weeks

**Shift:** Nights, 3x12-Hour Shifts

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours per Week

**Experience:** Minimum 1 Year of Nursing Experience

**License:** Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state.

**Certifications:**
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider (AHA or ARC)

**Must-Have:**
- Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing

**Job Description:**

- **Competent Clinical Nursing Care:** Provide consistent nursing care in line with professional standards.

- **Education:**
- Participate in identifying and meeting personal learning needs.
- Attend educational programs based on identified needs.
- Use patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
- Assess readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers.
- Assess developmental level of the patient and factors affecting learning ability.

- **Evaluation of Care:**
- Identify expected patient outcomes.
- Seek guidance in revising care plans.
- Participate in discussions with interdisciplinary teams for patient care evaluation.
- Communicate relevant information for continuity of care.

- **Implementation:**
- Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Perform bedside point-of-care testing required for patient care plans.
- Use healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in delivering care.
- Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs.
- Consult with appropriate resources for complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, and high-risk discharge planning.

- **Leadership:**
- Develop goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations.
- Achieve goals and objectives within a set timeframe or renegotiate with supervisors.
- Engage in activities facilitating intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
- Participate in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Effectively use communication systems.
- Promote cost-effective care.
- Provide feedback to coworkers.
- Be aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.

- **Patient Assessment:**
- Recognize data from complex situations to determine care priorities.
- Include appropriate physical, psychosocial, education, and safety needs.
- Synthesize assessment data before communicating with others.
- Assess and anticipate discharge needs of patients and families.
- Develop relationships with families to promote advocacy for the patient.

- **Planning:**
- Collaborate with patients/family to prepare or update care plans.
- Use multidisciplinary resources in planning care.
- Employ full-range communication to convey planning.
- Address cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning.
- Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks for complex problems.

- **Research:**
- Read journals with studies or articles applicable to practice.
- Bring ideas and questions to staff for assessment of applicability.
