Job Summary
The Contract Specialist will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts on behalf of Comcast and its affiliates under the supervision of Comcast attorneys and the Manager, Contracts Support. Position responsibilities include review and negotiation of various types of agreements, including professional services agreements, software agreements (on-premise and SaaS), NDAs, amendments, evaluation agreements, work orders, and statements of work in support of Comcast’s Procurement team and a wide array of internal business units. The Contract Specialist will also assist with intake and distribution of contracts for legal review through Comcast’s on-line intake system and perform other duties as assigned.Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Prepares, negotiates, and manages various standard and non-standard contracts for the organization, including software licensing agreements, consultant agreements, evaluation agreements, vendor service agreements, NDAs, amendments, work orders and statements of work, interacting with in-house and outside counsel, and business and procurement teams, as appropriate, to ensure compliance with business and legal requirements, as well as Comcast corporate policy.
- Provides counsel and guidance on contractual legal matters, including by acting as first point of contact on matters of contract interpretation.
- Prepares memoranda regarding contract terms for executive review.
- Communicates new and/or modified contract terms, and explains their practical implications, to affected internal teams.
- Identifies and escalates significant legal and business issues to senior lawyers and members of the legal team for review and resolution.
- Works to establish and participate in processes that will create efficiencies for the legal department and business clients.
- Demonstrates excellent organization, communication, and time management skills.
- Assist with intake and distribution of contracts for legal review through Comcast’s on-line intake system
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5-7+ years of Contracts Management or paralegal experience preferred, with an emphasis on contract review, negotiation and drafting.
- Extensive experience with procurement agreements is preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent required.
- J.D. from accredited law school or paralegal certificate preferred, but not required, particularly if experience demonstrates necessary qualifications.
- Excellent negotiating, drafting, problem solving and communications skills.
- Ability to work effectively with various members of the legal team, and with procurement and business personnel.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality work product.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
