**Shift:** 12-hour shifts, Days, Every Other Weekend (EOW), First to Float

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum of 3 years

**License:** Required

**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

**Must-Have:** Proficiency with Cerner EMR system; NIHSS experience required

**Job Description:**

- Work in a telemetry stroke unit with a high-paced and high-acuity environment, similar to a stepdown unit.
- Handle a 30-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1.
- Provide care for diverse patient types, including Non-STEMI, R/O MI & ACS, neuro interventional radiology patients, carotid stents, high-risk stroke/renal patients, and more.
- Titrate medications such as Heparin, Amiodarone, and Cardizem; set rates for Dopamine and Dobutamine.
- Utilize high-flow oxygen and bedside CPAP, maintained by the Respiratory Therapy team.
- Work with a monitoring system and interpret your own strips with support from 24/7 monitor technicians.
- Collaborate with 24/7 available pharmacy and clinical pharmacists on the unit.
- Meet stroke competencies and engage in ongoing learning in a designated stroke unit.
- Float to med/surg, other telemetry units, and potentially ICU, managing patients with appropriate acuity levels.
- Participate in a structured orientation process for familiarity with the unit and potential ICU environment if floated.

**Additional Information:**

- Operate pagers linked to the call light system and internal spectra link phones.
- Wear navy blue scrubs with navy, white, or black undershirts as per dress code.
- Ensure compliance with California law regarding breaks: a half-hour break and three 15-minute breaks per shift.
- Engage in additional orientation days in the ICU if needed for potential float requirements.
- Experience with stepdown units or similar environments is beneficial.
