**Description:**
The Surgical Technician plays an essential role in the perioperative team, acting as the first, second, or assisting technician under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to ensure safe and effective care during the intraoperative period.

**Essential Functions:**

- Maintain a sterile environment by applying the principles of asepsis.
- Demonstrate competency in select technical skills, judgment, and knowledge.
- Provide age-specific care to obstetrical patients, following department procedures.
- Organize and coordinate supplies and equipment to maintain an efficient department.
- Ensure the safety of patients, co-workers, and self by adhering to safety and legal requirements.
- Charge for equipment and supplies used.
- Participate in room turnover and setup.
- Maintain and clean equipment, identifying items needing repair as per policy.
- Perform sterilization, disinfection, and document loads accurately.

**Required Skills & Experience:**

- Ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures.
- Problem-solving skills related to the procedure being performed.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
- Basic understanding of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers.
- Knowledge of patient care concepts and effective perioperative teamwork.
- Ability to apply sterile techniques during procedures.

- Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or
- Certificate of completion of a Surgical Technology program

**Languages:** Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
