Shift: Varied six, 24-hour shifts, 6 per 28-day block; 48-hour shifts; 8 am Saturday – 8 am Monday
Guaranteed Hours: Not specified
Experience: New graduates and experienced physicians are welcome
License: Ohio license preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Certifications: NRP, PALS (or willingness to obtain)
Must-Have:
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatric Hospitalist
- Clean malpractice history and license
- Not accepting locums or visa candidates
- Eligibility for certification within 5 years post-training and certification within 3 years of eligibility
Job Description:
- Responsible for Level IIB Special Care Nursery
- Required to round on pediatric inpatients, well babies, and special care nursery
- Perform procedures including circumcisions, frenotomy, lumbar puncture, intubation, and UVC placement
- Manage infants born at 32 weeks and above, including CPAP, surfactant, and ventilator care
- Handle an average of 1,000 deliveries per year
- Average daily census: 12 patients, including 2 pediatric inpatients, 8 well newborns, and 4 special care
- Conduct emergency department consults and limited outpatient medical consults
- Provide newborn care and attend high-risk deliveries
- All call is in-house with access to a call room
- Average number of patients per day: 8-10
- Types of cases include well babies, low-acuity pediatric patients (reactive airway, RSV, dehydration), special care for 32 weeks and up, and ER consults
- Preference for candidates trained in circumcision and frenotomy
- Support staff includes floor nurses and a pediatric educator
- Sole provider on duty
- Nationwide collaboration with access to pediatric specialists, research, and clinical trials
- Local administration and decision-making with leadership seeking input
- Hotel accommodations may be provided for multiple-day commitments
- Relocation may be required and discussed during the interview
