Day shift, 40 hours with float requirement to multiple units including Pre and Post Op

**Guaranteed Hours:**
To be discussed with the facility

**Experience:**
Recent acute care hospital experience within the past 5 years; PACU or ICU experience required

**License:**
Must be willing to obtain the necessary state license

**Certifications:**
ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), BLS (AHA)

**Must-Have:**
COVID vaccination status

**Job Description:**

- Function as a team member in all phases of perianesthesia care, including Pre-Op, PACU Phase 1, and PACU Phase II.
- Apply the nursing process to patient care within the registered nurse scope of practice.
- Teach patients and significant others about their care and recovery process.
- Document patient care in the medical record accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to effectively coordinate overall patient care.
- Assist physicians with endoscopic examinations and perform gastric manometer testing.
- Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure patient readiness for surgery.
- Review and assess patient's status in relation to planned surgery, including physical parameters, lab values, and pre-, intra-, and post-op learning needs.
- Consult with surgeons, anesthesia, and other providers to resolve identified patient issues timely.
- Prevent avoidable surgery cancellations and begin interdisciplinary discharge planning.
- Manage patients during anesthesia recovery, including pain control and sedation administration.
- Identify and interpret cardiac rhythms, proficient in using cardio-respiratory monitoring equipment.
- Establish nursing diagnoses based on assessment results and collaborate on care plans.
- Implement individualized care plans and assist with activities of daily living and medical procedures.
- Provide direction to unlicensed assistive personnel to ensure optimum patient care.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and teaching in both electronic and paper formats.
- Evaluate care provided and communicate patient status and results with the interdisciplinary team.
