Job Title: Surgical Technician

Job Specialty: Surgical Technologist, Sterile Processing Technologist

Job Duration: 9 months

Shift: Generally 6:30am-2:30pm Monday-Friday with rotating on-call for nights and weekends. May require staying late due to emergency cases.

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Surgical Technician

License: Registered as a Surgical Technician in the State of Colorado

Certifications: Certified Surgical Technician (CST)

Must-Have:
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with a minimum of 5 years of current experience as a Surgical Technician
- Registered as a Surgical Technician in the State of Colorado

Job Description:
- Function as a part of the surgical healthcare team, providing technical support to surgeons, RNs, and anesthetists in the operating room setting.
- Arrange supplies and instruments, maintain accurate counts, and pass instruments and sterile supplies to the surgeon during operations.
- Assist with applying dressings, preparing specimens for testing, and operating sterilizers in the Sterile Processing area.
- Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments, check for proper working condition and sterility, and restock operating rooms with supplies.
- Use principles of aseptic practice, ensure sterility of items, anticipate supply needs, and order supplies as necessary.
- Report directly to the Surgical Services Department Manager.
- Must have mental and physical stamina to work effectively in stressful situations, with the ability to interact with a variety of individuals and handle heavy lifting and exposure to potential hazards.
- Must have strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, and adhere to aseptic practices and safety protocols in the operating room environment.
