**Job Description:**

- Perform patient care and non-patient care functions within the scope of practice under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Duties include but are not limited to:
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Vital signs and documentation
- Intake and Output tracking
- Performing EKGs
- Simple dressing changes
- Specimen collection
- Assisting with meals
- Errands and transportation of patients, medications, or specimens
- Ambulating patients
- Urinary drainage care (indwelling, external, suprapubic)
- Assisting with colostomy care
- Applying binders
- Weighing patients
- Assisting healthcare providers with procedures and physical exams
- Understand and adhere to performance standards, policies, and behaviors.
- Integrate patients' rights into work practice.
- Utilize current methods of infection control.
- Participate in Performance Improvement Initiatives.
- Utilize appropriate steps in decision-making related to patient care and unit-based issues.
- Collaborate and communicate with the healthcare team.
- Complete competency requirements and attend mandatory in-services and staff meetings.
- Utilize cost containment practices.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance, and submission of annual physical.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment:**

- Must be able to move about the department and hospital constantly while attending to the needs of patients, visitors, and staff.
- Requires continuous communication with patients, staff, and visitors of all educational levels.
- Requires frequent use of computers and other office equipment.
- Required to move objects up to fifty pounds and assist patients of all weights with minimum assistance or using assistive devices/equipment.
- Must rapidly assess and respond to situational needs of patients, staff, and visitors.
- Must adapt to a high-stress environment with frequent interruptions.

- Patients across various age groups, including neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, bariatric, and those with special communication, developmental delays, end-of-life, isolation precautions, or cultural needs.
