**Shift:** 2:30 am - 11:00 pm with every other weekend

**Guaranteed Hours:** 40.00 hours per week

**Experience:** Previous experience required

**License:** Registered as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS)

**Certifications:** ASCP, NCA, or AMT

**Must-Have:**
- B.S. in Medical Technology, or a Bachelor's degree with prerequisite coursework and clinical training
- Ability to operate laboratory instrumentation
- Proficiency in performing patient phlebotomy
- Superior work knowledge and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information
- Effective communication skills in English

**Job Description:**

- Perform routine and special diagnostic procedures requiring technical skill, judgment, and independent decision-making according to established standards and procedures.
- Conduct phlebotomy and accessioning duties as needed.
- Assist the Laboratory Supervisor in both technical and administrative functions of the laboratory.
- Ensure test results meet lab quality standards, are accurate, timely, appropriate, and useful.
- Verify specimen integrity, set priorities, evaluate and interpret data, and take appropriate actions per policy.
- Conduct proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments to ensure timely and accurate test results.
- Properly utilize Cerner/STAR for test ordering, receiving, and verification.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, pathologists, coworkers, students, laboratory staff, and other departments.
- Maintain a safe work environment and comply with laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.
- Participate in mandatory education and available continuing education programs.
- Demonstrate capability in operating office equipment such as telephones, fax machines, and computer terminals.
- Adapt to a fast-paced, high-traffic work environment with potential exposure to biohazardous materials.

This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and may involve lifting or moving items up to 50 lbs. Visual acuity and normal color perception are needed for accurate interpretation of lab orders.
